It is one of the largest international organizations in the world of education and science. Initially it aimed to progress towards the knowledge of the geography and the worldto the general public, but currently its interests include geography, archeology, natural science, the study of world cultures, history and the promotion of environmental conservation and thehistorical heritage.
Es una de las organizaciones internacionales más grandes del mundo sobre educación y ciencia. Inicialmente tenía el objetivo de avanzar hacia el conocimiento de la geografía y del mundopara el público en general, pero actualmente sus intereses incluyen la geografía, la arqueología, las ciencias naturales, el estudio de las culturas del mundo, la historia y la promoción de laconservación del medio ambiente y del patrimonio histórico.
