NATURALISTIC OBSERVATION


Naturalistic observation is a type of field study. It involves non-experimental approaches used in the field studies or in real-life settings. In the naturalisticobservation method the researcher very carefully observes and records some behavior or phenomenon, sometimes over a prolonged period, in its natural setting. One example of naturalistic observation would bethe study of a person. In this case we are going to study a child.
The subject participant is a 4 years old, male and Hispanic. He is approximately 3 feet and 10 inches tall and weights 53 pounds.He is a big kid for his age and very strong. He is physically well developing in every aspect, he can walk, and he can jump from a 12 inch height, and can hop on one foot. He demonstrated adequatetransitional movements. He is toilet trained. At the moment of the study he was at school. He was dressed appropriately since he was wearing his uniform. His appearance was good, he looks very clean andhis shoes were clean too. He is attending Pre-K at JW Johnson Elementary. He is able to trace letters and place them in order. He is able to name and identifies the alphabet from A to Z, and can countnumerals from 1 to 30. He knows basic colors. He has difficulties staying in the lines during coloring activity. During table top he likes to align objects in his own organizational skills in a line.He enjoys cutting and likes to glue during pasting activities. He also likes finger painting. He loves to name objects and animals through flash cards. He is an expert doing puzzles. He has a maxattention spam up to 10 min in one activity and gets easily distracted. He needs sometimes redirection to engage in a child group play activity. He demonstrates a low frustration tolerance when theteacher request a task to do and he doesn’t want to do it he will become upset. He is a very smart kid, he is in a 20 student’s classroom and only five know how to write their names, he is one of them...
