Christmas is the season during which Christians everywhere give thanks to God the Father for the birth of His Son, Jesus Christ. This joyous cycle begins on December 25,the Festival of the Nativity of our Lord, more commonly known in English-speaking countries as Christmas.
WHAT DOES THE WORD "CHRISTMAS" MEAN?
Christmas literally means the Mass (celebration) ofChrist.
"Christ" is a Greek word and title, meaning "anointed" or one set apart by God for a special purpose.
"Christ" is equivalent to the Hebrew word "Messiah."
Based on the words of ancientprophets, the first century Jewish people expected the arrival of the Messiah promised by God as a great deliver of the people.

Beside His claim to deity; He presented Himself as the only avenue for any person to havea personal relationship with God, the only source of forgiveness for sins, and the only way to salvation (eternal life). How this was to accomplished was His purpose for taking on the mantle ofhumanity, which was to become a sacrifice on the cross of Calvary where He paid the penalty-price for the sins of all mankind.
