Now, youshoud be asking why am I here, talking about my life. Well, my story began when I studied law at Fort Hare University. Then, When I was 23 years old I worked at a law firm located in Johannesburg. Sometime later, I joined the African National Congress (CNA), that was a peaceful organization that campaigned against discrimination and excessive exploitation suffered by black South Africans. Really,this is when my story begin.
On 1943, I founded the Youth League and organized protests yagainst the system of racial segregation known as apartheid. At those times, the government, leaded by thewhite people, heated all the protesters and fought against them; that’s why I founded another organization named Umkhonto we Sizwe (means Spearof the Nation) that fough against the apartheid. But, onthe following year I was arrested in Johannesburg where I was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment. So at age of 46, I was taken to Robben Island prison.
