OPENING SPEECH

Good morning honorable members of thechair, distinguished delegates and observers.

The consequences of the politic instability in the Middle East affect millions of people in places such as northern Africa; it is our duty as the SPECPOLcommittee to protect their peace and rights.

Countries like Libya and Syria, as well as others, have been forced to recur to violent methods to get freedom from the government that for a long timehave ruled against the popular will and they have exploited the resources of their regions for their own benefit. The democratic outbreaks surge from movements like the Arabian wake driven bycivilians, students, and citizens who got tired of the exploitation and bad living conditions for them and for their families.

Today the Greek nation has a proposal in order to have conciliation between thecivilian society and their governors in order to achieve mutual respect of the different opinions, which surge from religious and cultural beliefs, and from the practice of violence in order to,overcome problems.
