A HISTORY OF COMMUNICATION / HOW WE COMMUNICATE /
COMMUNICATION TODAY / DIFFERENCIES BETWEEN PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

1-…HOW WE COMUNICATE………………………………………………………………
We can communicatewith people in different ways. We can talk and write, and we can send messages with our hands and faces. There is also the phone, the fax and the e-mail. Television, film, painting and photographycan also communicate ideas.

2-DIFFERENCIES BETWEEN PEOPLE AND ANIMALS……………………………………………………
Animals have ways of communication, too. Bees dance, elephants make very low sounds, whales sing, monkeysuse their faces to show anger and love. But this is nothing compared with what human beings can do. We have language: we can write poetry, tell jokes, make promises, etc. And we have a sense of pastand future, not just present.

3-…A HISTORY OF COMUNICATION…………………………………………………………………….
Communication technologies were very important in the development of all the ancient societies:
• Around2900BC, paper and hieroglyphics transformed Egypt.

• The ancient Greeks loved spoken word.

• The Romans developed a unique system of government.

• The printing press appeared inEurope.

4-COMUNICATION TODAY…………………………………………………………………………………
Radio, films and television have had a huge influence on society in the last hundred years. And now we have the Internet, which isinfinite. We can give and get a lot of information very quickly, but it is so difficult to know what is important and what isn’t.
