WQQQ went on the air on October 7, 1993 with a live morning show from 6am to 9 am followed by a simulcastof then sister station WREF 850 AM from Ridgefield, CT. In the evening and overnights, the station broadcast classical music from the Beethoven Network.Separate programming 24/7 was begun in March, 1996.
Joe Loverro became General Manager in 2002, and except for a brief period in 2008 and early 2009,remains GM, as well as handling the morning show with Marie Castagna. Ron Lyon handles the extensive local news coverage. Q103 is community radio,utilizing a full service approach. The station broadcasts live from a myriad of local events, and features an Adult Contemporary music format. Joe Loverro alsohosts a Friday night oldies show, featuring 50's,60's and early 70's tunes, including lots of Doo-wop and group harmony. Other special shows on WQQQ includea popular Saturday morning sports talk show, hosted by Corey Chapman, with Ed Fox and Andy Williams; a Sunday morning smooth jazz show with Bob andMaryann Chatfield, and a Sunday evening show featuring great standards and big bands. WQQQ operates 24/7 and streams live on the web
