Values and Assumptions

Ever wonder why you are the way you are? I have, the answer is due to our culture which can influence the way we perceive (look at or understand) manydifferent aspects of life. Honduran culture has various similarities with many Latin-American countries like the fact that they are centered on a traditional or family orientedsociety with a pronounced reverence for the past. Our values and unique sense of assumptions is what makes us standout from the crowd. We are well known for our friendlinessand hospitality which are cherished by foreigners. Likewise the charisma we acquire in our personality. We are raised in a very conservative society, that’s why even though weare constantly influenced by many other traditions, at the end they don’t prevail in our culture. We, Hondurans really fond respect, we are taught to speak and act a certain wayin front of adults and elders. I know some level of respect is vital in every culture but in ours is something more like mandatory than optional.
Honesty is a prevalent valuein our culture, as surprisingly as it might seem, but its true and I can prove it. I´ve witnessed and experienced such acts of rectitude, there was this one time when I lost mywallet with my credit cards and ID on the university´s bus, I had already given up all hope of finding it, but shockingly someone found it and took it to the lost and founddepartment, the next day I was notified about it and recuperated my wallet. This is just one of the many anecdotes I have.
Our values and the way we view them makes us who we are,at the end this is what distinguishes us from the rest. I love my culture we might not be perfect but at least I know that with these values we are developing a decent society.
