CHILDREN ON STREETS

Have you ever seen kids asking for money in streets? I do. There are many kids winning their life by asking for money in streets. Here in Mexico, itis a common problem. Sometimes giving money to them is a bad idea because you don’t help that much.

Most people give money to those kids because they feel pity or wantto help them. Actually, this people are only making the kids keep poor.
When you give money to those kids, you are just giving them a short-term solution. With this, youare only closing their poverty cycle. This is because those kids are only going to spend that money in food instead of going to school. When they get older, they´ll beuneducated parents and their children will be poor too.
In addition, these kids confront many dangers on streets. Some of them include drug dealers or sex tourist. As they arepoor and exposed to this dangers, they may have a worse life.
Mexico's national statistics office says that 3.6 million children (kids under the age of 18) work, and ofthose, 41.5 percent do not attend school. With these stats, one can see that in Mexico this is a big problem.
Harry Jones has helped kids for over 10 years. He says thathelping kids with money is not a solution for the problem. “One way that I have used to help them is to take them from streets and leave them in a place where they can studyand be a better person” said Jones. He also said that helping kids without waiting for something in exchange makes him feel god with himself.
With this, it is concludedthat helping those kids with money is not a way to help them. Here in the country we should find a way to make those kids attend to school and leave their poverty cycle.
