Nostradamus’ Prophecies

Have you ever wondered what will happen in the future? There are many definitions for THE FUTURE. Some people say that is just a period of time that has not come yet. Other people say that it is a mystery and something unsure. Are we going to be part of the future? Future may not exist, but people keep thinking about it; therefore, they are more interested in knowingabout their future than living their present. You never know if your destiny is going to bring you bad or good things to your life. Additionally, people who have tried to predict the future had been considered psychics, sorcerers, witches, and even evil people. There was a man in the history of the world, whose name was Michel Nostredame, also known as Nostradamus, who predicted many things forhis and our future. He was a physician and seer, astrologer and philosopher, mathematician and alchemist. He was an unusual man. He wrote a book where he predicted many things that have happened already and things that are going to happen in the future. Nostradamus’ prophecies are all over the world. Nostradamus was accurate in many of his predictions but some of them have not been explained untilafter the event.

The Catholic Encyclopedia defines prophecy as a supernatural knowledge of something with an inspiration and revelation of someone; however, a prophecy can be also a prediction of something that is going to happen in the future. Prophecies are most commonly associated with the Bible, but there are prophecies that are from people who do not have a religious point of view.Predicting what will happen is not something unusual anymore. Prophecies are part of our history because many people have tried to predict it. Nevertheless, “normal people” can also predict the future by premonitions. Parapsychologists, people who study events including extrasensory perception, psycho kinesis, and survival of consciousness after death, define premonitions as a warning, mostly in ourdreams, of an event that will happen in the future. Premonitions are not considered exact predictions because they are not as accurate as predictions made by prophets. We have had many prophets in our world, for example, Moses considered one of the greatest prophets on The Bible or Nostradamus, an extraordinary man, who has had accurate predictions. Nostradamus “a prophet is one who sees thingsremote from the natural knowledge of men” (Nostradamus, 1555).

Michel de Nostredame, known as Nostradamus, was born on December 14, 1503 in St. Remy, Provence, France. Nostradamus was not only a prophet, but also, a physician, astrologer, philosopher, mathematician and alchemist. He got his knowledge through his family. His mother`s family were skilled in mathematics and medicine, just like hisfather´s family. His great- grandfather encouraged him to study astrology and celestial science. Also, since he was a little boy, he studied languages such as Latin, Greek, and Hebrew, which were introduced in the book where he talks about his prophecies. Nostradamus was a great man. In 1522, he started medicine and he graduated with a bachelor degree in Montpellier College. With the “BlackPlague” in France, he started to look for a cure with plants and flowers. He tried these with many people, but sometimes he could not explain what he was using for his patients. Additionally, he got married around 1534, and unfortunately his wife and two children died for this plague. Notradamus began to write his prophecies in 1554. Between 1555 and 1558 his book of “prophecies” was published.Nostradamus101.com explains us what are centuries and how they are divided:
Nostradamus wrote messages from the past to the future in the form of short poems consisting of four lines each called Quatrains. In his lifetime Nostradamus completed a total of 942 quatrains, which he organized into groups of 100 quatrains called Centuries. However, one century only has 46 quatrains (1)....
