Oasis is a British rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as The Rain, the band was formed by singer, guitarist Paul Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll, whowould later join as a songwriter and lead guitarist Liam's older brother,.Because of the 11 million copies of their debut album Definitely Maybe, at 26 million copies sold of her second album (What'sthe Story) Morning Glory and the fact that their third album Be Here Now became the disc fastest selling in UK history with 420,000 copies sold only on the day of departure, Oasis is considered one ofthe greatest musical groups of the country, having entered several times in the Guinness Book of Records (currently still keeping one of them).
