Hegraduated from Columbia University and at the prestigious Harvard Law School Law School, where he was president of the Harvard Law Review Law Review.7 then workedas a community organizer and practiced as a lawyer career in civil rights, before being elected and serve as an Illinois state senator from 1997 to 2004. He taughtconstitutional law at the law school at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2004. In 2000 he lost the race for a seat in the House of Representatives of the UnitedStates, and after his previous failure in January 2003 announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. In March 2004, won the Democratic primaries, and in July the sameyear delivered the opening speech at the Democratic National Convention favoring promoting his candidacy. Finally he was elected to the Senate in November 2004,with 70% of the votes favor.
