The obesity has been declared by the World Health Organization as the epidemic of the 21st century
For years the overweight has been considered to be a basicallyaesthetic problem. Today we know that it is not like that. The obesity is a problem of health, a chronic problem for which, today per today, we do not have a control in this disease.It is a question of a problem of health that it is the base of many other typical diseases of our time as the cardiovascular diseases, between others.
The socioeconomic factors havea paper. In the industrialized companies the obesity is more frequent in persons with a low level of studies and a few economic low incomes.
The obesity is a complex disease andmultifactorial, consequence of an imbalance between the caloric ingestion and the energetic expense during a certain period of time. Nevertheless it is clear that the obesity doesnot ensue from a simple overload food or lacking in physical activity, since there exist numerous factors that can influence the obtaining or the maintenance of a positive energybalance that will lead to an increase of weight, which once established tends to be kept for diverse reasons.
The diagnosis of the obesity and the corporal overweight in early agesand his correction would be a strategy to avoid the obesity with his diseases associated in the adult life. The characterization of the obesity in the adolescence would help toidentify variables related to the obesity since they are the inadequate ways of life. The aim of this investigation is to characterize the obesity in the teenagers with relation to thefrequency of presentation in this stage of the life, presence of personal and familiar precedents, inadequate ways of life and diseases associated as the arterial hypertension.
