OBSERVATION TASK – MET3
1. HOW IS THE RAPPORT IN CLASS?
I visited Mr. Mendoza classroom. He started to construct rapport since the students were coming one by one; he askedpersonal questions about students’ day in school and some students answered they were tired, some of them said that their day was funny.
As I was there, Ss felt uncomfortable, so he introduced me tothem and he told me to say something to them. I think this was very important in order Ss know what was going on.
So during the class Ss feel engaged with the class, and for the teacher waseasy to set the tasks.
I think the rapport he has with his Ss was constructed since the first day of class, because I noticed an atmosphere of familiarity. Ss did questions without fear.Obviously there was a guy who doesn’t want to work but the teacher could handle this situation by doing jokes without hurting the student’s feeling.
2. TTT vs. STT
The teacher delivered anactivity that required a lot of talking from the students. The teacher talked just to give instructions and elicit answers. Of course, TTT was less than STT, just when the class started theteacher told the students about a person he admires in order to introduce the topic, and then Ss worked in pairs talking about people they admire too.
During the activity Ss had to read anarticle and do some activities. The teacher handled TTT by giving Ss some time to compare their answers in pairs and then share their answers to the whole class.
3. DO YOU THINK THE CLASS WASPREPARED?
Yes, since the beginning of the lesson the teacher knew what he has to do. Fortunately there wasn't any problem while he was delivering the class.
It shows to me how importantis to prepare a class because when you are teaching some problems can present and if you don’t maybe you can’t be able to face these problems.
