A HUNDRED AND NINETY SEVEN WORDS
We live in a time when the Government finally controlled our lives at the point that they can control the amount of words that we can say. They did this so we canappreciate our voices, the power of what we want to say, so we could appease the mute and look into each other’s eyes more.
As one may suppose, we all at first opposed to this law (because we couldonly say a hundred words) and they fixed it so we could say a total of a hundred and ninety seven words per day. We must wear a word-counter on our necks and when we got to out limit, it would do a“beep” noise that was registered and if we exceeded, a shock would paralyze temporarily our vocal cords.
Old marriages fought no longer, little kids cried no longer or pout, there was silence inclassrooms, our songs lacked of lyrics and teen couples covered in grief for not being allowed to express their love.
If someone protested or tried to start a revolution, they would “magically” disappear. It’sno point saying that many people did…T.V. was the only one that could use more words than the hundred and ninety seven, but it was controlled by the Government.
I tried to move on with my life, toaccept this law. So if the phone rang, I’d put it to my ear without saying hello, or at restaurants, I’d point at what I want to order. I think I’m adjusting well to the new way.
I have already givenup at searching for love but then I met you and well, you’ve left me speechless and astonished. I fancied you and you did too, so I made a move that you were scared to do.
In a world of infinitesadness, you gave me the hope I needed. As they say “love can hope where reason would despair”. Months passed and every night, I would call you my dearest lover, and proudly say I only used fifty two orforty eight or eighty today, I saved the rest for you.
