Gartner “..BI & PM (Performance management) will play the key role in 2009‐12. Gartner feels performance is so important that theyhave released a performance management framework, and has released over 20 papers on BI and performance. SAP they said was traditionally a slow BI solution, and BWA was highly desired.

Business Need1. Gartner reports that Companies that have better information will come out of the 10.08 economic crisis the fastest. We are already seeing evidence of the haves and have not’s – information thatis. 2. ‘Ad‐Hoc’, or ‘Self‐Service’ queries are the goal of proactive enterprises for 2009‐12. The foundation of these queries is high performance queries. Query performance deteriorates at time ofdatabase access. 3. Ad‐Hoc and Self service queries only work with direct database access.

For very large databases SAP has made available the BW Accelerator. But not everyone can afford it. For stillfaster ad‐hoc analysis SAP has launched BO Explorer, but that need the BW Accelerator to run Modeling for BW differs greatly from modeling for BWA, which differs from modeling for BW Explorer
