In 1962 he was arrested and convicted ofsabotage and other charges, and sentenced to life imprisonment. Mandela went on to serve 27 years in prison, spending many of these years on Robben Island. . As President, he frequently gave priority toreconciliation, while introducing policies aimed at combating poverty and inequality in South Africa. Mandela has received more than 250 awards over four decades, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize.Mandela is often known as Madiba ok, now we are going to talk with him. Hi mandela, how are you?

VALEN: i was born in Mvezo a small village located in the district of Umtata i lived with my mother nose keni and my father Henry mandela both of them from the tribu ofxosho. when i was 9 my father died of tuberculisis i studied law in the univercity of Fort hare, when i was 23 year old i got my first work in a law firm in Johannesburg. After i joined to theafrican national congress, an organitation that makes pacific campanas against discrimination and explotation of blacks
in 1943,i formed the Young League and organized demonstrations in protest against thesystem of racial segregation known as apartheid.
The government suppressed white blood and fire at the demonstrators, s in 1961 founded an organization called Umkhonto we Sizwe ("Spear of theNation") with which went to the armed struggle.
