l movimiento estudiantil de 1968 fue un movimiento social en el que además de estudiantes de la UNAM y del IPN, participaronprofesores, intelectuales, amas de casa, obreros y profesionistas en la Ciudad de México y que fue dispersado el 2 de octubre de 1968 por el gobierno mexicano en la matanza en la Plaza de las Tres Culturas de Tlatelolco. El hecho fue cometido por el grupo paramilitar denominado Batallón Olimpia y el Ejército Mexicano, en contra de una manifestación convocada por Consejo Nacional de Huelga, órgano directrizdel movimiento. Según lo dicho por sí mismo en 1969[ ]y por Luis Echeverría Álvarez, el responsable de la matanza fue Gustavo Díaz Ordaz.[ ]Debido a la acción gubernamental al pretender ocultar información, no se ha logrado esclarecer exactamente la cantidad oficial de asesinados, heridos, desaparecidos y encarcelados.
