I chose this animal because I wanted to know the causes of their extinction.
The panda lives in the cold and damp bamboo forests of eastern Tibet andsouthwestern China.
This animal is omnivorous, feeding on bamboo shoots, grasses, lilies, rodents, birds and fish.
They are viviparous, mating occurs in spring andthe young are born in late winter. The females, after 5 months pregnant, give birth to one or two offspring. At birth, pups weigh just 140 grams, and are white.The black pick him up later.

Pandas are solitary animals spend their lives mostly in the ground, but climb trees when they are pursued by dogs. They often makegreat climbing in the mountains just to get their food. They have a highly developed sense of smell.
This famous animal became known when they were capturedalive to bring them to zoos. This species is endangered because of their habitat destruction.
Pandas also suffer of hunting as their fur is very appreciated.Another major cause is the difficulty to reproduce because of their timidity that characterizes them. There are only about 1000 wild pandas free.

They have acontrasting color coat black and white, which gives it a distinctive appearance. It is a large animal like a bear, with long white fur. Legs, shoulders, ears and eyearea are black. The tail is broad and short.
They have an extra thumb on the front legs. A sixth finger allows it to pluck bamboo stalks with ease.
A femaleweighs around 80 kg and one male can reach 100 kg. It has a size of 1 to 1.5 meters. They live between 10 and 15 years. A well-fed Panda can live about 30 years.
