First Period
AREA: Speaking and listening.
TOPIC: Happy Birthday! / Here’s a …for you! / thank you!
AIM: To sing happy birthday, say Thank you!MATERIALS: Pupil’s book page 12, Finger puppets, CD 1, flashcards.

I will play the karaoke version of the Hello Song and the children will sing and do the actions as in Lesson 1.
I’ll stick the Unit 1flashcards on the board in turn and the children will say the words with me. Then I will remove the flashcard of the plate, and the children will say all the words including the one that is missing.Then I’ll remove the cup, and so on…until the children are saying all the words.
The children will revise the story that we read before (PB page 7). I’ll hold up the finger puppet of Squeak and we willsing Happy Birthday to Squeak! And then I’ll play the CD and the children will join in singing Happy Birthday!
I’ll hold up the flashcard of the present in my other hand, and I’ll say let’s singHappy birthday again and give Squeak a present. I’ll give each flashcard to a different child and they will give the flashcards to Squeak and say Here’s a …for you! Squeak says Thank you!
I’ll ask themto open their PB at page 12 and sing Happy Birthday to squeak again.

Second Period

AIM:To have fun!
Material: Pupil’s Book Activity book page 10, flashcards, CD 1, puppets.

We’ll play a game that English children play at birthday parties! It’s called Pass the present! I’ll get thechildren sitting in a circle and they should listen to the music and pass the flashcard of the present round the circle. As they do this, they should say here’s a present for you! / thank you! Whenthe music stops, the children should listen to the instruction on the CD and the child who has got the flashcard should respond. The child who has got the flashcard when the music finishes at the end...
