Pasado Simple - (Simple Past Tense)
Simple Past tense is used to describe actions that have happened at an earlier time and have already completed, for example:

She cleaned her house. Ella limpió su casa.
I broke the window. Yo rompí la ventana.

Here we see that conjugation in Spanish equivalent to the Past Indefinite. Note that the sentence structure is similar to the Simple Present:Both the negative interrogative as auxiliarDID is used as it is the past form of the verb "TO DO" and accompanies the main verb in its infinitive form. Negations can be used in the contracted form of DID NOT or DID. In the top box uses the verb To Play (Play) as an example.
By expressing a prayer in Past Simple means that the action is unrelated to the present, as we see in the following cases:He lost the keys. Él perdió las llaves.
(Puede que en el presente las haya encontrado).

She lent me a book. Ella me prestó un libro.
(Puede que ya se lo haya devuelto).

It is also possible to specify the time the action is to tell time more accurately:

They saw the movie last night. Ellos vieron la película anoche.
We went to London yesterday. Nosotros fuimos a Londres ayer.

Inorder to form a sentence in the past tense we must distinguish two
types: regular verbs and irregular verbs.

In the first case the Past Simple form by adding the ending ed to the infinitive, while the irregulars are so called not to follow a certain pattern and in this case must be studied individually.

I bought a car.    Yo compré un coche
In these sentences there is no information onthis:
I lost my job.    Yo perdí mi trabajo
(puede que en la actualidad lo haya vuelto a recuperar)
I bought a car.
Yo compré un coche (en la actualidad puede que ya no tenga el coche, que lo haya vendido)
Often indicates the period of time when the action was developed:
I played tennis yesterday.    Yo jugué al tenis ayer.
I went to Paris last summer.    Yo fui a París el verano pasado
Thesentence structure is similar to this, using the main verb in its past form.
She listens to music.    Ella escucha música (presente)
She listened to music.    Ella escuchó música (pasado)
In negative and interrogative forms used also a similar structure: it uses the auxiliary verb "to do" in time past, that accompanies the main verb in the infinitive form:
I didn't go to the party.    Yo nofui a la fiesta
Did you go to the party    Fuiste tú a la fiesta
In the past tense formation must distinguish between regular and irregular verbs: regular verbs form the past tense by adding "-ed" to the infinitive, while the irregular not follow a certain pattern should be studied individually (see tenth class).
Verbo regular    "To listen": forma pasada "listened".
Verbo irregular    "Togo": forma pasada "went"
The last form of verbs is unique to every person, no different form for the 3rd person singular as in the present.
I / you / he / she / we / they "listened"
I / you / he / she / we / they "went"
Past form of regular verbs
Is formed by adding "-ed" al infinitivo
To need (necesitar)    needed
To listen (escuchar)    listened
If the infinitive of the verb ends in "e",then you just add a "d": Infinitive past form
To love (amar)    loved
To bribe (sobornar)    bribed
If the infinitive of the verb ends in "y", after a consonant, then this letter "y" becomes "i" and add "-ed".
Last Infinitive Form:
To carry (llevar)    carried
To study (estudiar)    studied
If the infinitive of the verb consists of a single syllable, with one vowel and ends in a consonant, then this consonant is doubled:
To stop (parar)    stopped
To ban (prohibir)    banned
It also doubles the final consonant of those verbs of two or more syllables, the accent falls on the last syllable, and it contains a single vowel and ends in a single consonant:
To admit (admitir)    admitted
To prefer(preferir)    preferred
Finally, means double the last consonant of those verbs whose...
