Struggling to overcome his brain surgery, trying to surpass the negative influences around him, fighting off the raciststereotypes and the loneliness it produces to be the minority in a selected group of people, it would be safe to assume that Junior is as he himself said it a true warrior. Identity revolvesaround The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian as one of its most relevant themes, from the first page speaking on how the “water” on his brain defined him as a person to how he foundhimself losing his all-time best friend for his wish to achieve a better and more prosperous life. Fighting is all Junior has been doing his entire life and in this point of life with all thismassive changes the fighting in his life continues to go on. Not only has Junior been fighting against obstacles that are thrown at him, for example his entry into Reardan, having a family thathas not accomplished anything in their entire life, and the brain disease since he was born, with the possibility of having seizures at any time. But he as well gets into physical fights forhis honor and own respect, but most of them are just beat downs as he’s constantly been bullied. And although Juniors life may be miserable at best, he is a warrior, who although experiencesconstant defeat gets back up, turns his head and shows the world a funny and optimistic side of life through his passionate cartoons and a self-deprecating comedy. With a running history offailures not only running his family but as well his entire race, he needs to overcome all this fights, as not only proof to himself that he is worth a shot, but as well not give up on that hopethat impulses Juniors actions. Hope, persistence, and self-deprecating comedy are the 3 pillars that keep Junior standing firm against life, without letting him give up, a true warrior.
