1- Goals
Goal is the specific objective toward which a person is striving
There are 3 different kinds of goals:
Short term: from 1 day up to 1 yearMid-term: from 1 year up to 5 years
Long term: more than 5 years
Goal setting: is when a person analyzes what he wants to achieve
Smart technique
S. Specific: Goals should bestraightforward and emphasize what you want to happen. Specifics help us to focus our efforts and clearly define what we are going to do.
M. measurable: If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it. T wholegoal statement is a measure for the project; if the goal is accomplished, its a success
A. attainable: to figure out ways you can make them come true
R. realistic: that the skills needed to do thework are available; that the project fits with the overall strategy and goals of the organization
T. time: Set a timeframe for the goal: for next week, in three months, by fifth grade
2-strength
Is the property of being physically and mentally strong.
Strong: having strength or power greater than average people
3.- people with different capacities
• some people are bornwith a difference (blindness, deaf mute, paralytic, etc) but sometimes common people become different because of an accident r disease.
• Appropriate ways to describe people with disabilities:• Put people first, not their disability. Ex. Woman with arthritis NOT deformed woman, children who are deaf NOT the deaf.
• Emphasize abilities, not limitations. Ex. Uses wheelchair NOTconfined to a wheelchair
• They can be successful people, but not superhumans or victims. Ex. People with mental retardation NOT retardness. People with disabilities NOT people that suffers fromdisabilities
