Introverted personality and its relation with success in ones individuals workplaces, personal relationships and society


Justification
Traditionally, extroverts have been related to leadership and economic, career, and business success. It’s hard to think of a leader that doesn’t develop high communicative skills, so it’s common to find that certain or most job positions ask for individualswhich are extrovert and sociable.
However these last terms are not synonyms. Susan Cain in her book “Quiet: The power of introverts in world that can’t stop talking”, 2012; talks about the difference between being sociable and being an extroverted, and establishes series of characteristics that highlight the strengths of the introvert that allow them to reach economic and career success as muchextent as the extroverts.
The base of the idea of one trait being better than the other is what needs to be uncovered. We live in a society where it sometimes seems that the quality of your work has less value than the volume of your voice. After all, study after study made sociability seem like a determinant factor for healthy living, very shy or introverted individuals show to succumb morerapidly to various diseases such as HIV and to be more vulnerable to suffer from depression than their extroverted counterpart.
Despite of all the biases related to whether a person who’s extroverted will be more likely to accomplish success in life compared to an introverted, there’s the hidden benefit of the introverted personality for workplaces, personal relationships and society as a whole.

Astudy was performed using the survey method. The sample was middle-class families from Quail drive, Ottawa, ON. Two people (surveyed) per family for a total of 72 townhouses, 144 individuals were surveyed.
The purpose of the study was to find a correlation between introverted temperaments and overall satisfaction of the individuals about their relationships and their success in life.
Therewere two sets of questions:
1 Eleven questions that would determine if the person fell into the introverted temperament spectrum;
2 And four questions to determine how introverts felt about some aspects of their life.

The set of four questions was only given to the people that score more “YES”, which means that they fell into the introverted side. Even though there’s no fixed scores because there’s people that fall in between (ambiverts) someone that scored more than six “YES” was considered to be in the introverted side.
