Same sex couples should have equal marital rights as heterosexual couples because; the Constitution gives them the right, the necessity of separation between church and state,and marriage benefits society as a whole.
The constitution gives each American the same rights under the law. Every American citizen has the right to marry who they choose without religiouspersecution under the law. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right ofthe people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances (Constitution). The First Amendment says that it is unlawful for the United States to make, accept or governusing religious laws. It also states that each person has the right to liberty and freedom. There is no legal reason that’s stated in the Bill of rights why the LGBT community shouldn’t have the samerights as other US citizens. Each and every American citizen has the freedom to choose their own path in our country as long as their path isn’t intruding on your property or rights under the law andbeing part of the LGBT community isn’t and can’t legally be against the law. As American citizens certain liberties, freedoms and equalities are granted to us by birth. It is an inherited right asan American citizen to be able to marry as we see fit.
The separation of church and state are meant to keep us safe. The separation of church and state keeps us safe by protecting us from beingcontrolled or limited by religion. We as Americans are born into freedom from all types of persecutions even religious ones as well. The only reason that we as a society wouldn’t let people marry whom theychoose no matter the gender is because of religious inspiration.
