PHYSICAL EDUCATION
TEACHER: Let’s see if you have prepared your assignment for today. What’s physical education, Miriam?
MIRIAM. It’s the care and development ofthe human body by means of physical education and hygiene.
TEACHER: Very good, Miriam. And who can tell me the objectives of physical education?
MANUELA: I can sir.It’s the development of the physical fitness.
THEACHER: And what else?
PAOLA: Well, the acquisition of healthy, recreational habits to prevent tensions.
TEACHER:there’s still another important objective.
MANUELA: I don’t know.
SARA: I think it’s the control of one’s body through physical skills.
TEACHER: That’s right, Sara. Butthere’s still another aim with is related more to society than to the individual.
CHARLIE: I think it’s developing social attitudes; learning to play enthusiastically foryour team rather than for yourself and learning to be a good winner and a good loser.
TEACHER: Miriam, you mentioned physical fitness. Can you define it?
MIRIAM:Well, it implies having strong muscles, good breathing habits and a good circulatory system.
TEACHER: What are the symptoms of physical unfitness?
PAOLA: Bad posture,weak muscles, back pain, rounded shoulders, excess fat and so forth.
TEACHER: And the last question. What are some of the basic subjects in a physical educationprogram?
SARA: History of physical education, anatomy and physiology, psychology of coaching, personal and community health, first aid, gymnastics and athletics.
TEACHER:Very good. Let’s take a 10 minute break before the workout.
