Physical description:
The polar bear is the largest terrestrial carnivore. Adult weigh 770-1500 lbs. and measure 7.9-9.8 feet in length. The females are roughly the half the size of males. Its ears and tail are so reduced for maintain major body heat. It has largest food than others bear, for walk in the snow and swim. Their principalcharacteristic is the color of their coat, white, very different to the majority of the bears. But their coat is not really white, it is translucent. Sometimes the coat can be seen yellow and fawn, but the most time it reflects as white. Under the coat it has a black skin that attracts solar radiation and rise up the body heat. It loss only a little part of the heat that it trap, this thanks itscoat and its black skin. In the summer the polar bears can thin by the exceed heat. In the head it has little black eyes and a black snout.

Behaviors:
The polar bears are most active on the first third of the day, and less active on the last third of the day. When they are not hunting or fishing, they are resting or sleeping. In could seasons they find a natural shelter formaintain warm and pass the most time of that days resting.
Polar bears live alone, they are solitary creatures. Only mothers live with their cubs on the firsts years, later the cubs take their own way.
The principal preys of polar bears are the seals. But they also eat artic fox, reindeer, musk ox, fishes, shellfishes, and seabirds such as gulls. All of those animals live in the polar artic zone.They are known for eat beluga whales and walruses. They are opportunistic feeders which have been known to even feed on human garbage. During the summer they also eat plants. Sometimes polar bears eat smallest polar bears, cubs, but this situation is really strange.
The most common methods of hunting of polar bears are called still-hunting. They use their excellent smell sense to find a sealbreathing hole, and crouches nearby in silence for a seal to appear. Polar bears also smell seals in their caves under the ice. The bears then break through the ice and hope to catch a seal before it can swim away. When they catch their prey, they shatter it, broke its bones and finally eat it at all.
Life Cycle:
The gestation length of polar bears is about 8 months. This is more than other bearsin the planet.
The polar bears commonly have twin (2 offspring). A few have only one, and others have 3. But the average is closely to 2.
The breeding season take place from March to June, but most occurs during April and May each year. During this season the females and males find each other for reproduction. Then, they stay together for a week or more. Each polar bear may have different matesover their lifetime.
Female polar bears get their sexual maturity at about 4-5 years. Males get their sexual maturity at about 6 years, but in most case they do not successfully mate until 8-10 years.
Life Span
Polar bears can live from 20 to 30 years, but only a part can live 15 to 18 years. The oldest polar bear known in the wild was 32 years old.

This situation caused that the hunting of polar bear was prohibited by the law in 1973. After this, the population of polar bears in the planet rise again, but now they have another difficult problem. Although some hunters continue with the illegal hunt of polar bear, thisis not the principal cause that they are endangered again.
