The Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1956 was successful because blacks were persevering; they affected the economy of Montgomery and had a goodorganization during the boycott.
From the beginning blacks were persevering of what they wanted to obtain for this protest, a better treatment. The blacks had many meetings with therepresentatives of the bus company but they never gave up their ideals. Between December 15-16 of 1955 “the vice-president of the parent company of the Montgomery bus system meets with city and local busofficials and with MIA leaders, supposedly to negotiate a compromise. The biracial committee meets but cannot agree on a compromise proposal.” 1 It was a very long protest started on December 1 of 1995to December 20 of 1956. They had to support the discomforts, share the cars, until put in risk their lifes for obtain what they want a fair treatment for everyone.
Consequently, the bus boycottaffected the economy of Montgomery. In Montgomery a lot of people were black and used the bus; three-fourths of the passengers were blacks, during the bus boycott the bus company loss money. OnDecember 5 , 90 percent of Montgomery´s black citizens stayed off the busses. “As a result of the buss company´s loss of revenue in the boycott, the City Commission Wednesday raised fares 50 percent: adult fares 10 to 15 cents , school fares 5 to 8 and 5 cents charge for transfers than before where free .
