HISTORY

1961- PORTS International luxury brand was founded in Toronto, Canada by Luke Tanabe as a family business with the help of his two daughters, who were fashion designers.

1970s- Early1980s, PORTS became famous and it owned over 60 retail stores in North America and The UK

1989 – After a global recession PORTS was sold, and was acquired by Alfred Chan- a Chinese immigrantentrepreneur, who founded Etac Sales Limited (ESL)


Adventure in China

1993 - Chan moved the entire plant of PORTS from the West to Xiamen, China

Early 1990s - Opening up over 300 retail stores inthe country

2003 - The company went IPOs on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and planed to come back to the Western market. Also PORTS 1961 was founded.

2005 - PORTS 1961 successfully launches2006 - PORTS was selected by the Forbes magazine as one of the "Best under a Billion" businesses in Asia Pacific

- Luxury upward trend.
In the last years therehas been an increase on sales in the world`s luxury industry. Sales have grown more than a 68% between 2000 and 2005.
Past performance, together with the appearance of more sophisticated buyers makethis growing effect expected to continue.

- Presence on the hottest center of the luxury industry
Due to the earn of the fastest growth rate in individual wealth, Asia became the best spot to be.According to a leading accounting firm report, China make 12% of global luxury goods consumption sales.

- Higher levels of incomes in China.
With a positive growth rate in China and higher levelsof incomes, the luxury goods industry have been stimulated in the last period. People are more willing to spend their money in luxury goods.

- Partnerships and Licenses.
Based on previoussuccess with BMW, rises an opportunity to develop new alliances with high-end brands.

- Product line expansion.
