Good afternoon honorable chairs and fellow delegates, the delegation of United Kingdom is here today to talk about a world issue that concerns us all and that’s bioterrorism. It’s true it’s been said Bioterrorism could be the next big issue, but theproblem is, it’s already a great issue, because is a type of terrorism that involves intentional release of biological agents in form of bacteria, viruses or toxins. The use of bioterrorism hasbecome increasingly prevalent by the terrorist groups and it’s caused huge impacts on humans and animals when used.
In UK some people talked about it before it was this big a deal and it was, ina certain way, a warned issue. Unfortunately UK wasn’t ready when this issue reach that magnitude but most of all it wasn’t ready when it reached the country. They had to face an imminent issueno one would’ve thought, therefore, UK had to, immediately, deal and take care of the consequences the biological weapons and the bioterrorism have brought to the country; the fear of disablingand deadly infections had already driven it to defend themselves in every way possible. But UK is aware that when it comes to things like these, its not only us, both everyone who would have todeal with the next problem.
UK believes that the way to stop the bioterrorism is to stop the biological weapons to be created in the first place. And in this fight againstbioterrorism, it has already sign deals with other countries to stand together against this issue that threatens with destroying a great part of our home, the earth. The UK regards the issue of bioterrorismwith great significance, and therefore is willing to adopt new approaches suggested by other members of the UN to counter today’s threats. The delegation of UK appreciates the attention given.
