I have been always fascinated by the magazine industry. I think it has been present my whole life; I even had a subscription since I was a little kid. Medial relations specialist would be somethingthat I can see myself doing for a long time. I have always been very interactive with people and subjects that I am interested in. Media relations specialists work to establish a positive image in themedia for the company, organization, or maybe a person that hires them like celebrities. They are familiar with the workings of the various media worlds, such as television, radio, and print. They arethe connection, or representative, between the person, company, or group they represent and the media, including newspaper, magazine, and broadcast news editors and reporters. Media relationsspecialists plan photo and editorial opportunities for use in the
media this is why I see myself in the print magazine industry. They develop editorial ideas to fit special promotions, or develop news andfeature releases to pitch to the media.
A typical day on this job will be preparing press releases and also contacting people in the media who might print or broadcast material, maybe planning aphoto shoot and also an editorial, making arrangements for celebrities to come for interviews or contacting their agencies for pictures, interviews, press releases, etc. I think everyday will be differentbecause this position requires many challenges, and one of them is keeping the public and your organization satisfied. A Media Relations Specialist is that link between the public that receives thatmagazine, in this case, and your company.
For this position it all depends of the city you start working and also the experience in the field. Many of the jobs out there are paying between$35,000.00 and $50,000.00. But as I mentioned before it all depends on the city. For example, New York has an average of $68,000.00 or more annually which is a good start; it all depends on the company also....
