Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula,  better known by his pseudonym Francisco Villa or the diminutive of this, Pancho Villa. He was one of the leaders of the Mexican Revolution  which military actionwas decisive in the defeat of the regime of then President Victoriano Huerta.  A native of Durango state  (it is unknown whether it was Rio Grande [6 ] or San Juan del Rio ), was born on June5, 1878  and was killed in an ambush in Hidalgo del Parral (Chihuahua) on 20 July 1923.  During the revolution was known as "El Centauro del Norte". 
Commander of the Northern Division, was leader of the northern state of Chihuahua, which, given its size, mineral wealth, and proximity to the United States of America, gave him considerable resources. Villa was provisional governorof Chihuahua in 1913 and 1914. The dominance of northern Mexico Villa broke in1915,  through a series of defeats suffered in Celaya and Agua Prieta in the hands of Alvaro Obregon and Plutarco Elias Calles. After Villa's attack on Columbus, in 1915, General John J. Pershingtried unsuccessfully to capture Villa for a year.
