Eating in Britain
1 Everyday of the week magazine articles, television advertisements and programmes tell us what we should and shouldn't be eating and drinking: Drink 3 a lot of water, don't eatmany sweets, Eat more vegetables, etc… But why and what are we eating wrong?
5 In Britain we have different eating habits to other countries. We have three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner.Breakfast is from 06:00-10:00 and
7 lunch is from 12:00-14:00 and dinner can be eaten from 17:00-20:00.
During the week, for breakfast, most people eat cereal with milk or toast with
9 jam. However,at the weekend it is more common to have an 'English Breakfast' or part of an English breakfast. This consists of fried or boiled eggs, 11 sausages, bacon, fried bread, mushrooms, baked beans and atomato. It is really tasty, but very bad for you!
13 Lunch is usually a light meal, we usually have an hour lunch break and so people usually bring a sandwich from home or eat a salad at the cantine.15 Dinner is usually the main meal of the day and it takes about one hour. We usually eat meat and vegetables and then a dessert.
17 In Britain, the majority of men and women work and when theyarrive home from work they are tired and don't really have the energy to cook. Therefore, week!
