EL CONCEPTO DE PREMAPA COMO HERRAMIENTA PARA ABORDAR EL ANÁLISIS ESPACIAL

RESUMEN

El contenido de este artículo presenta los resultados de la investigación sobremodelos, enfatizando en aquellos que permiten la representación gráfica de variables, que intervienen en la ocurrencia de un fenómeno, sobre lo cual se desarrolla el concepto de premapa, como elaboración conceptual de relaciones espaciales entre dichas variables y como instrumento de análisis y representación, previo a la elaboración de un mapa analítico o sintético; todo esto teniendo como referencia,el concepto de espacio como objeto de estudio de la geografía, para responder a una necesidad dentro del proceso de investigación geográfica, en donde aún no se elabora cartografía temática a partir de planteamientos conceptuales con ayuda de premapas, y por lo tanto no se reconoce su valor como elementos necesarios en el correcto tratamiento de la información espacial.

Se muestra cuál es elorigen de todo premapa y por lo tanto de todo mapa, se precisa cuáles son los elementos gráficos con carácter de premapa y se identifican las condiciones para serlo; se aclara cuáles son los elementos gráficos que de acuerdo a sus características, no deben ser conceptualizados como tales y se establece una tipología. Finalmente se propone el concepto de premapa y su utilidad para mostrardistribuciones espaciales de variables, lo cual lo convierte no solo en instrumento de análisis espacial, sino en paso indispensable antes de llegar al mapa, como condición para que este exista o como reemplazo del mismo. A manera de ejemplo se presenta un ejercicio en donde se muestra cómo se va de una matriz de datos geográfica o base de datos georreferenciada, al mapa, pasando por la elaboración depremapas.

ABSTRACT

The content of this article presents the results of the investigation on models, emphasizing those that allow the graphic representation of variables, which intervene in the occurrence of a phenomenon, on which there develops the concept of premap, likeconceptual making of spatial relations between the above mentioned variables and like instrument of analysis and representation, before to the making of an analytical or synthetic map; all this having like reference, the concept of space like object of study of the geography, to answer to a need inside the process of geographical investigation, where thematic cartography is still not prepared fromconceptual expositions with help of premaps, and therefore his value is not recognized like necessary elements in the correct treatment of the spatial information.

The same way it find what the origin of each premap is, and therefore of each map, in addition to show which the graphic elements can be considered to be premap and the conditions necessary it to be; it clears up which there are thegraphic elements that in accordance with his characteristics, must not be conceptualized as such and a typology is established. Finally there is proposed the concept of premap and his utility to show spatial variables distributions, which turns it not only into instrument of spatial analysis, but into indispensable step before coming to the map, like condition so that this one exists or like

3substitution of the same one. Like example there appears an exercise where one appears how it goes away of a geographical matrix or relational database, to the map, happening for the premaps making.
