The Black Kite (Milvus migrans) is a medium-sized bird of prey easily identifiable by its angled wing and distinctive forked tail. It is widely distributed through the temperate and tropical partsof Eurasia and parts of Australasia and Oceania, with the temperate region populations tending to be migratory.

The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the four big cats in the genus Panthera, and amember of the family Felidae. With some males exceeding 250 kg(550 lb) in weight,[4] it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in Sub-Saharan Africa andin Asia with an endangeredremnant population in Gir Forest National Park in India, having disappeared from North Africa and Southwest Asia in historic times. Until the latePleistocene, about 10,000 years ago,the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, across Eurasia from western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru.[5] Thelion is a vulnerable species, having seen a possibly irreversible population decline of thirty to fifty percent over the past two decades in its African range.[2] Lion populations are untenableoutside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, habitat loss and conflicts with humans are currently the greatest causes of concern. WithinAfrica, the West African lion population is particularly endangered.

The domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris[3] and Canis lupus dingo[1][2]) is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member ofthe Canidae family of the order Carnivora. The term is used for both feral and pet varieties. The dog may have been the first animal to be domesticated, and has been the most widelykept working, hunting, and companion animal in human history. The word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species,[4] as opposed to the word "bitch" for the female of the species.[5]
