Definition of problem – WHYMaterial Waste
The materials being used in the assembly lines are produced in another area then transported through boxes and sent to the assembly line. Due to this process a lot of materialsare being wasted by being broken, misused and/or misplaced. This creates a big problem for the company due to all the money that is being lost daily in material waste.
Objectives – WHATPrincipal Objective: Minimize material cost by the reduction of material waste.
Find out if there is proper employee management of materials.
Investigate if there is anemployee shortage causing problems of material handling.

Methods of Observation
Observe employees in the production line to report issues inmaterial handling.
Internal Data Search
Collect documents and data related to the material management training.
Personal Interviews
Interview employees in the facilityto know what they would change if they could change something.
Expected Outcomes
An increase of profits due to the reduction of material waste.
A reduction of material wasteby changing the way materials are being transported.
There is an employee shortage causing problems in material handling.
