Examples:
She felt ill. She went to work. Se sentía enferma. Fue a trabajar.
You can say:
She felt ill, she went to work though
Although she felt ill she went to work.Aunque se sentía enferma fue a trabajar.
Even though she felt ill she went to work. Aunque se sentia enferma fue a trabajar.
She felt ill but she went to work. Se sentia enferma pero fue a trabajar.Despite feeling ill she went to work. A pesar de sentirse enferma fue a trabajar.
She felt ill. However she went to work. Se sentia enferma. Sin embargo, fue a trabajar.
She felt ill. Neverthelessshe went to work. Se sentia enferma. No obstante fue a trabajar.
Use:
• Aunque + sujeto + verbo - although she felt ill....
• Even though es como although pero tiene mas énfasis.
•But se pone entre las dos frases. She felt ill but she went to work.
• *Despite + gerund - Despite feeling ill she went to work.
• In spite of + noun – In spite of illness, she went towork...
• Despite + possessive Adjective Despite her illness, she went to work
• Despite + Noun - Despite the weather they played tennis.
• However is used to start the second phraseShe was ill however she went to work
• Nevertheless is the same thing as however but more emphasis. She went to work nevertheless she was ill
*In spite of means the same as despite (apesar de) – It can be used in the same way.
