Present Simple
The Simple Present demonstrates a habitual action or an everyday activity. The Simple Present of the verb is used with the persons I, You, We, You, They in affirmative sentences.
ExamplesI want to go Christmas shopping.
You wrap the presents.
We cook dinner.
They like Holidays.
AUXILIARIES. INTERROGATIVE / NEGATIVE
In English, there are words used as auxiliaries to askquestions when the action word or verb is other different from any of the forms of the verb Be (am, is, are) with the person I, You, We, They. It is necessary to use the auxiliary DO before the person andthe verb is in simple form.
The auxiliary DO is also necessary in negative and affirmative short answers to questions.
Do you want to go shopping? Yes, I do.
Do you work inwrapping department? No, I don’t.
Do you cook dinner? Yes, I do.
Do they celebrate the Holidays? No, they don’t.
In questions with interrogative words orinformation questions, the auxiliary DO is also necessary with other verbs different from the verb BE.
Examples:
What do you want buy?
When do you cook?
Where do you work?
How do you celebrate theholidays?
THIRD PERSON
The English Language has only one declination in the present tense. This declination occurs only with the persons: He, She, It. This is the way the verbs conjugate with thesepersons:
He works / Runs
She Speaks / Washes
It Watches / Plays
In Affirmative, it is necessary to add S or ES to the verbs. Add ES to the verbsending O, S, X, SH and CH. Add S to all the other verbs.
The active voice is the "normal" voice. This is the voice that we use most of the time. You are probably already familiar with the activevoice. In the active voice, the object receives the action of the verb:
