Para las personas de habla inglés, es muy importante ser respetuoso, cortés y específico al momento de presentarse ante las demás personas.
Las frases más comunes son:
-Hello, I am Mary. What is your name? (Hola, soy Mary. ¿Cuál es su nombre?)*
-Good morning. I am Mr. López (Buenos días. Soy el Señor López)
-It’s nice tomeet you. (Es un gusto conocerte)
-Hi, my name is Laura. (Hola mi nombre es Laura)*
La diferencia entre HI y HELLO es la formalidad, se utiliza Hi para con amigos y personas conocidas y Hello para personas desconocidas o con rango superior en algunos casos.
Para saludar se puede usar las partes del día:
-Good morning (Buenosdías)
-Good afternoon (Buenas tardes)
-Good evening (Buenas noches)*
-Good night (Buenas noches)*
Generalmente existe confusión al momento de usar Good evening y Good night. La diferencia es que Good evening se utiliza para saludar y Good night para despedirse, o para ir a dormir.

-How old are you (¿Cuántos años tiene?)
-What’s your last name? (¿Cuál es su apellido?)
-How do you spell your first name? (¿Cómo se deletrea su nombre?)

-What’s your phone number? (¿Cuál es sunúmero telefónico?)
-Are you single? (¿Es usted soltera?)
-Are you married? (¿Es usted casado?)
-What is your occupation? (¿A qué se dedica?)
Un diálogo sencillo para presentarse a sí mismo y recabar información sobre la otra persona sería como sigue el ejemplo:
A:Good afternoon, my name is Juan. What’s your name?B:Good afternoon Juan, I am Luis. Where are you from?
A:I am from Cochabamba - Bolivia.
B:How old are you Juan?
A:I am 23 (twenty three) years old. What about you?
B:I am 20 (twenty) years old.
A:Are you married?
B:No, I am not. I am single.
A:What is your address?
B:I live on Oquendo Street. What about you?
A:I live at 4555 Ayacucho Avenue.
B:Well, it’s nice to meet you.
A: Nice to meetyou too!
