Presidential Leadership
What does it take to be the POTUS? To become the President of the United States one needs to be a goodleader, sacrifice, determination, focus, and loyalty. There are many qualities of leadership and each president has used at least one. The two most important quality of leadership are to have confidenceand the ability to make people follow you.
One quality of leadership is having confidence in everything one does. Franklin Roosevelt used this quality to provide “an inner well of securitythrough the worst days of World War II” (Goodwin, 3). Self-confidence should be the strongest feature of the character of a person, because only with confidence can one face their fears, fears of theunknown, fears of the deceived, fear of not achieving their dreams. When there is no such feature, there is a risk that fear does not allow one to be sure of their intelligence. If you are not sure ofyour own intelligence one does not take action. That’s why self-confidence is the strongest feature of the character of a person who has a personality full of courage and integrity like FranklinRoosevelt.
As a leader I had the experience of having confidence. A couple of years ago my friends and I organized a fashion show to raise money and donate it to an organization here in SanAntonio. The theme of the fashion show was to show young girls that there are many ways to dress fashionable without having to dress provocatively and with lots of cleavage. So, we need it a venue for theevent, the clothes from a recognized store, hair and makeup, and models. Many of our other friends told us that we weren’t going to be able to do it, because we were too young and the people were notgoing to take us seriously. We first talked with HEB, Wal-Mart, and Target; they did not help at all. So, we decided to go to La Cantera and we went from store to store and made appointments to talk...
