Countries had problems creating products after the Industrial Revolution; this period is mark by Imperialism. Countries wanted more power and a way of gaining power was byexpanding creating colonies, and if they were not able to expand they became allies with other countries. England now the UK has an alliance with France and Russia, and there was a Triple Alliance which wascomposes of Germany, Austria-Hungry and Italy. Austria-Hungry and strength threaten Austria-Hungary’s control of its territories in the Balkans. Serbia had open hostility after the annexation ofterritories; Serbia growing Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife Sophie, heir to the throne of Austria-Hungry was killed by Gavrilo Princip, a Serbian. Austria-Hungry gave Serbia and ultimatum butsince Serbia ignored it, they declare war. Russia has an alliance with Serbia, while Austria-Hungry were part of the Tripe Alliance, the war started as Russia and Serbia vs. Austria-Hungry and Germany.Czar Nicholas Romanor II was the cousin of the ruler of Germany, he did not have the money to start a war but he still went throw with it. His people started going hungry and so forth became theRussian Revolution. Russia had to leave the war.
Until now United State of America was neutral, President Wilson believe that any American interest would be affected by the European war. However,there were two events that made the United States change their mind. The first was the sinking of the Lusitania, show in document 3; they were worn that people would travel at their own risk, becauseUK and Germany were at war. A German U-boat (submarine) sunk this ship, which was considered by Americans to be a neutral ship, because it mostly carried passengers. The second reason was theZimmerman Telegram, show in document 4; Germany sent a coded message to Mexico promising that they could get back Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico.
