If militarism is analyzed, it can be noticed that the per capita expenditures of Great Powers on Armaments dramatically increased during this time period. As countries acquired more weaponsthey had more capacity to defend form others, but as well to attack. This caused a very big amount of tension in Europe and as well it caused a big sense of paranoia among European leaders who tookmany quick and not well thought decisions through the whole development of the conflict. The mobilization of Europena troops definitely was a key factor to this issue.
Alliances played a veryimportant role in the outbreak of WWI; due to them, countries had much more confidence in taking all sorts of actions because they felt support of other powerful countries to backup their actions. Alliancesas well played a highly important role in the development of the whole conflict since its beginning and until its end; alliances even set the precedent to the establishment of the new social order inthe world after WWI and the interaction between European nations was altered for ever. Due to alliances events like the assassination of Franz Ferdinand had an important weight and ended up triggeringone of the biggest wars in the history of mankind.
