Green Alert
Have you ever wondered why our planet is facing many climatic changes and natural disasters? Do we know the reason there are many campaigns dedicated to resolve environmental problems when years ago our society was not even worried about these harms? The answer is that our ignorant actions have been deteriorating this planetover the years. As the time goes by, it seems we are more determined in destroying our green home. The biosphere is facing much natural devastation, which in turn affects the world economically and socially. Human must begin to recognize that we are destroying our only home ‘‘Earth’’ after this we are not going to have a shelter. Mother Nature is trying to make us see that if we continue withthese excessive actions, the result may be more global disasters as hurricanes, earthquakes and more. The planet Earth is a wonderful work of art that shows us day after day the value of its elements, and that has been just borrowed. It's more than important to realize that the world is not ours; we have been given only to live in it and enjoy it wisely. That is what we must d. To live, not destroy. We know that global warming is real, and if we do not do anything about global climate change, we could see catastrophic results. Everything from the increase of hurricanes, to raising in sea levels, to the famines and changes of weather patterns that increased droughts and wildfires, everything is like a net where every single problem are connected with each other. When I think in the generationcoming behind us, I want to make sure that they could enjoy the beaches, mountains and landscapes that I enjoyed growing up, and that means a good stood to protect this environment.
Now in day there are those ignorant people who are still asking, why should they care for the environment? Simply because we need of it, and much! We depend on it to exist, this amazing place provides us all thenatural resources we need for food, build our homes, have electricity, transportation, clothing and more.
"The ultimate test of man's conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard." (Gaylord Nelson, former governor of Wisconsin, co-founder of Earth Day)
Because of this green alert, the Earth Summit was a United Nationsconference on environment and development in June 3 of 1992 was held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and took 12 days. The conference attended by delegates from 178 countries, agreed to maintain their united efforts for sustainable development, improving the lives of people living in poverty and reverse or prevent further global environmental degradation. With increasing poverty and increasingenvironmental degradation, this summit has been successful in establishing and creating, with urgency, commitments to action, to achieve results in the short term. Today in 2010 as a result we can see that the governors of countries strive every day to sensitize the habitants of care for our planet.
Some of the largest problems are Acid Rain, Air Pollution, Global Warming, Ozone Depletion, Smog, WaterPollution, Overpopulation, and Rain Forest Destruction. To understand a little bit more these terms. Acid Rain is formed when humidity in the air combines with nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide emitted by factories, power plants and vehicles that burn coal or petroleum products. These gases in interaction with water vapor in the clouds, form sulfuric and nitric acids. These chemicals fall toearth, accompanying the precipitation, forming the acid rain. This issue effects both on people and on the natural ecosystem of the world. As a result of these rains, the acidification of the waters of lakes, rivers and seas stops the development of aquatic life, which greatly increases fish mortality. This rain also directly affects the vegetation, leading to a significant damage of the forest...
