Getting Your Retrofit Right!
Lighting retrofit remains the most powerful energy conservation tool available to the industrial and commercial property
owner or manager. Technology continues to speed ahead, delivering attractive paybacks in buildingsconstructed only a
few years ago. A.L.P.’s Advanced Technology Retrofit solutions expand the developer’s palette to deliver energy performance

and electrically—at a fraction of the cost of a fixture replacement. We recommend following a few simple steps to improve
the results ofyour project:
Know Your Application: Note the typical fixture spacing and mounting height, along with the type of task performed in
the space.
A Picture is Worth 1000 Words: With the lamps turned off, photograph the fixture exterior and interior with a detailed
image of the end of the fixture as well as the door frame latch and hinge.
Add “Fixture Type” to the Lighting Survey: Clearing a pathfor many of the more advanced kits often requires the
designer to differentiate between fixture types, even if they fit the same generic description. The best way to identify
fixtures with generally similar characteristics is by noting the shape and location of the fasteners used to secure the door,
louver or ballast cover.
Custom Designs: Many solutions provided by A.L.P. are designed to fit awide variety of fixture housings, but the more
sophisticated the upgrade, the more likely a custom solution will be required. Following the steps above will help to define
those applications that require custom designs. Custom designs are subject to a design fee and the product cost is often a
function of the specific project quantity. Most custom design work will require the customer tosubmit a fixture from the
project site.
