Indian Ocean earthquake-2004 
The Indian Ocean earthquake on 26 December 2004, was an undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 9.2 on the Richter scale. The earthquake originated at 7:58 local time,near the northern coast of the island of Indonesia, Sumatra. He unleashed a series of massive tsunamis that affected in a devastating coastal areas of eight Asian countries. The waves were the causeof death of about 300,000 people. This was the fifth strongest earthquake in modern history, yet its effects beyond the bounds. 

The death toll is far too high to be the first time in over 100 yearsthat an Indian Ocean tsunami has affected the coasts. This reflects the fact that the affected countries were unprepared for a disaster of this magnitude and even its people failed to recognize thesigns of possible tsunami coming. Coastal cities were completely destroyed, the waves reached a height of over 10 meters. Today, there are still people missing, families who were unable to recover thebodies of others. 

The effects in economic terms are shocking, the most affected countries were Indonesia and Sri Lanka, each of which suffered losses of more than $ 2 billion and take more than 10years to recover 100%. In all the countries concerned, the total amount of homeless, injured, killed, exceeds the sum of 2 million people.
