What should we do with “spare embryos” people no longer want? Should we kill them? Nowadays this is a common question in our society. Theseembryos should be frozen in case another couple wants them. This is an opportunity for an infertile couple to have their own child. Since this is a life, we can´tjust discard it. So that´s why I think the embryos should be kept frozen for another couple.

This “spare embryos” are often rejected by couples who arefacing a divorce, are death or they simply changed their mind. Although the decision to discard the frozen embryos is the most common in our society, itisn´t the most appropriate one. According to the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth by the CDC, infertility affects about 12 percent of the reproductive-agepopulation. In the United States, this includes 7.3 million women and their partners. If there are couples who need fertilized embryos, why should wediscard them? The right choice should be to save them and then give them to a couple who needs them.

Life begins, when a sperm goes into an egg, regardlesswhere this took place. So when you discard an embryo, you are killing a life; not a potential life, like some people says. People shouldn´t kill someone justbecause they can´t defend themselves, they should consider an embryo a real life.

Like I said at the beginning, embryos should be kept frozen, as long asthey can be, until a couple wants them. Why should we discard something that is useful for another couple? Why should we discard a life? Think about it.
