AN EXCELLENT SERVICE

That we are called to serve the Lord in some other ways, I mean that not only to come into the house of God to lift up your hands and sing songs of praises; not only to come here and rejoice because of the goodness of the Lord, but you and I have been called to do something else: to work for the Lord, to reach out to the lost, to be the body of Christ on this earth. Sothat’s why I say this moment that the Lord wants us to know some few things so that we may serve him with Excellency. It is important.

The first thing that I want to check is written here in this part that we read at the beginning: The Lord wants us to know that we have been truly called, it means that we have been called indeed, that it is something sure, that it is not that you and I are justguessing if we are called or not, but we are sure the Lord has called us to do our part in the ministry of church. The Lord wants us to be sure.

That’s what happens here; this part of the scripture is telling us the story when the apostles came by the sea again, because they were disappointed about their own behavior. The Lord Jesus had died, he went to the cross, then they put him on thesepulcher, and in the third day the Lord Jesus rose up from the dead, but somehow the disciples were disappointed because they didn´t know that the Lord Jesus was really with them working mightily. So at this time some of the disciples went to the sea again and they entered the ships with Peter, Andrew, and some other people, and went to fish again.

The Word of God says that they failed that night;they didn´t catch anything, and so when they were coming near to the shore, then the Lord Jesus appeared to them and asked them: Children have ye any meat? They said: no. And then the Lord Jesus said: well, cast the net on the right side of the ship and ye shall find. When they did it, then they caught a great amount of fishes, so much that they were afraid that the nets could break. Then theyunderstood it was the Lord Jesus that came by the lake shore.

When they were there, the Lord Jesus ate together with them, called Peter and said: Simon, Simon Peter son of Jonas, loves thou me more than these; do you love me more than these? He said: yea Lord, you know that I love you. And the Lord said unto him: feed my lambs. But then the second time came again, and the Lord said to him: Simonson of Jonas, loves thou me; do you really love me? He said unto him: oh yea Lord, you know that I love you. Then the Lord said unto him: feed my sheep. But it wasn´t all, the Lord came again for the third time and said: Simon son of Jonas, loves thou me more than these? And he said: oh Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. And Jesus said unto him: feed my sheep. Why is the LordJesus asking the same question and giving him the same statement in three opportunities at that time? Because the Lord Jesus wanted to be completely sure that he was the one who called Peter to feed the sheep of the Lord, it means to pastor the church.

You know, the Lord does not want anybody to hesitate concerning the calling he makes us. But some people come sometimes to church; they come one dayand they are really glad and happy, because something good has just happened to them -Oh yes, hallelujah I feel like dancing, I feel like praying, I feel like singing. Oh pastor, I am ready to go to heaven now!- And they even try to do it, they even jump a little bit to see if they go up immediately to the presence of God. But fifteen days after, something wrong happens to them, they are firedfrom their job, and they come sad to the house of the Lord, and they ask the Lord the same prayer of Elijah: Lord I am not better than my father and my mother, I ask you please: kill me now. I want you to kill me, I don’t want to do anything here in this earth; I have failed, things are not good, life is not nice- You know what I am telling you. So that’s why the Lord is telling us this story, and...
