Mr. Santa: How’s it going, every9one?
Foreman: Very busy, Mr. Santa. More to do than every this year. The Elves are very tired. (looking around the workshop) Isn’t that right, Elves? You’re very tired. (The Elves all nod and agree. One or two stop work and come forward to explain to Mr. Santa)Elf 1: My arm are arching.
Elf 2: My fingers are sore.
Elf 3: And I’ve got an awful backache. (to audience)Bending over these bences is no fun when you’re 350 years old next birthday.
Mr. Santa: (looking around) Oh dear. Are thing really that bad?
Foreman: Absolutely. I don’t know how much longer we can carry on at this rate. I mean, just look at poor old Twinkletoes!
(They all turn towatch one of the Elves who is going totally crazy trying to work faster and faster)

Mrs. Santa: (impatiently) Yes?
Foreman: that Santa could give us a hand for a while.
Mr. Santa: Oh I’m afraid not. He’s just having his lunch.
Foreman: His lunch? (looking round atthe other elves) He’s only just finishes his breakfast!
Mr. Santa (Briskly). Yes, well, Santa’s got a very busy few days ahead. He’s got to keep his strength up. (The elves all look skeptical)
Mr. Santa: Is there any problem in particular you want me to let him know about?
Elf 1: Well, there’s a big demand for computer games this year.
Foreman: Yes, we could do with a few more Elves thatdepartment if he could find some.
Elf 2: Some of the lego doesn’t fit together.
Elf 3: and I’m running out of blue paint.
Mr. Santa: Mmmmm (making notes) Computer games…lego…..blue paint…..right. I’ll have a word with him. See what he can do (she turns away and begins to exit, then turns back, remembering) Oh….. once he’s finished his Christmas pudding, of course. (Exit Mr. Santa)
Foreman:(sarcastically) Oh yes, don’t let’s forget Santa’s Christmas pudding. Much more important than helping us out.
Elf 1: That big guy does nothing but fill his face.
Elf 2: He can sure put it away.
(The Elves all nod, resignedly)
Elf 3: If you ask me, Mr. Santa’s no better. She just encourages him (imitating Mr. Santa) “He got to keep his strength up.”
Elf 4: If he keeps eating at this rate he’llbe in the running for the world’s strongest man!
(The Elves all agree)
Foreman: (sighing) Oh Well, I suppose we’d better get back to work (He goes to the letter bin and takes out handful of envelopes) Look at all these. And they’re still coming in. It’s a really busy time of year.

Song 2: “Busy time of Year”
