TOPIC: Introduction of Vocabulary “Countries and Nationalities”
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Basic vocabulary (colours, schoolobjects, nouns, proper nouns), personal information, wh/questions (what’s your name? Who is he/she? What is he/she? Where is he/she from?)
OBJECTIVE: to get students to use the vocabulary countries andnationalities in suitable situations.
KEY WORDS: Spain, England, Poland, Portugal, China, Japan, France, Greece.
Spanish, English, Polish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, French,Greek.
What nationality is he/she?
TEACHING MATERIALS: blackboard, copies, and pictures.
DEVELOPMENT OF THE CLASS:
I will greet the students and introduce myself.
Iwill show the students a picture of Rafael Nadal. In one side of the picture will be his face and on the other side the flag in order to help the students where he is from. I will ask the students thefollowing question “who is he?” I will try to elicit from the students the information. Then I will ask the students “where is he from?” As they do not know how to say “Spain” I will say “he is fromSpain” I will make them repeat chorally and individually. For example:
T: where is he from?
Ss: he is from Spain.
S1: he is from Spain.
S2: he is from Spain.
Then I will ask the students how canwe say the nationality and say “he is from Spain” so “he is Spanish”. I will write on the board the question and answer. I will make them repeat chorally and individually. For example:
T: whatnationality is he?
Ss: he is Spanish.
S1: he is Spanish.
S2: he is Spanish.
I will write the systematization on the board. For example:
What nationality is he? He...
