Introduction
Public educational system in Costa Rica offers many opportunities for manystudents in all the country. The Curricular design used in public high schools was created in order to improve student´s learning process based on their needs. However, many of the objectives established by MEP are not being reached for several factors. One of the principal is lack of motivation from students which is the main cause of the low rate of scores in public high schools.
According to theexperts there are different factors that can cause the lack of motivation in teenagers, some are of these factors are: the students do not have a good self-esteem, god attitude, and behavior.
It is important to create spaces where the students can have the opportunity to reinforce their self-esteem inside of the high schools, like groups of study, workshops, sports club, etc.Justification
Nowadays one the main problem into public educational system is lack of motivation from students. This can have a negative impact on education because without motivation students will not actively engage with the material that is provided for their teachers.
A Ministry of Public Education study, reported in the Costa Rican press in mid-1996, indicates that thereare six times more dropouts from secondary school than there are students in the ninth grade the final year of legally mandated study. This is blamed on various factors, including the need for conveniently located secondary schools, lack of student motivation, lack of encouragement from parents, and the desire to enter the work force. (La Nación, March 20th, 1996)
Regarding the previous statements, this project will attempt to help students with low rate of scores and lack of motivation through a workshop which will offer strategies for students, parents and teachers.
Scopes and Benefits
Teachers who will work into the workshop will benefit, because it will give them ideas to motivate and encourage their students.
Students will reinforce their study habits in order toimprove their learning process in order to get better grades.
Parents will be able to help their kids
